Groix is a small island in the southern Brittany region. The mere mention of the word “Brittany” certainly makes you think of Breton pancakes and pancakes. To date, there are six creperies in Groix, out of a total of around fifteen establishments where you can eat. Breton pancakes logically hold a place in their own right on our little island of Ponant!
A crepe on your walking route?
Le Bourg and Port Tudy hold the crepe monopoly in Groix. Nevertheless, the Crêpes Baraque de l'Ecurie has managed to find a place for itself by opening a small, friendly terrace in the village of Kerlard. Usually crossed by travelers on bike rides or hikes, Kerlard now represents the ideal crossing point for a midday snack! Jannick will prepare excellent pancakes for you during spring and summer. What if we only had to choose one pancake in the end? The Lard des Thoniers pancake, without hesitation.
The creperies of the unmissable Bourg de Groix
Le Bourg is the unmissable place on the island. A true epicenter of economic activity, it brings together numerous restaurants. In fact, there are four creperies there where everyone can form their own opinion! At the end of the village, you will find the Kreiz Ar Mor creperie, on the Créhal road.
While on the road leading to the north of the island, just after the large parking lot, you will come across the creperie at Sandrine’s. The latter will welcome you in its former shipowner's house where you feel at home. You will then enjoy lace pancakes, garnished with local products that Sandrine will have carefully chosen beforehand.
In the heart of the village are La Chaloupe, with its terrace, which also serves as a bistro. Even further in the center, the Crêperie des Iles, located on the Place de l'Eglise. Unmissable, this creperie will offer you the opportunity to create your own Breton pancake, or to order traditional dishes. La Crêperie des Iles also has a charming room upstairs and a small terrace.
Finally, it should be noted that the La Maison creperie has closed its doors to become guest rooms.
Start your stay off right with a pancake in Port Tudy
We could have started with Port Tudy, the first stop for any traveler on the island of Groix. However, we wanted to save one of the best creperies in Groix for last: Au Repos de la Montée! As its name suggests, this establishment is literally located at the start of the climb from Port Tudy leading to the Bourg. You will eat your pancakes in a pretty room with wooded decor or on the garden terrace on sunny days.
Furthermore, the driftwood lights that you will find on the tables were made by Gwen-Art from wood recovered from the beaches of Groix. Gwen-Art is an associative project with a charitable aim for the association Un Espoir Pour Yanis.
